[Analysis Case] LCMS Analysis of Diosgenin in Yam Tubers

Qualitative and quantitative analysis of ginsenoside glycosides

Diosgenin is a component that has recently been reported to have not only nourishing and strengthening effects but also improvements in Alzheimer's disease and enhancements in motor function, making it a focus of attention. Natural diosgenin primarily exists as glycosides, and is abundantly found in foods such as yam. In this case, qualitative analysis of yam extract was performed using LC/MS, confirming multiple diosgenin glycosides. Additionally, by hydrolyzing the glycosides to unify them into aglycones (non-glycosides), quantitative analysis of diosgenin also becomes possible.

[Analysis Case] LC/MS/MS Analysis of Catechins in Green Tea

A simultaneous analysis case of eight types of catechins including heat isomerization products.

The main component of green tea, catechins, is known to have functions such as antioxidant effects, promoting fat burning, and lowering blood cholesterol levels, and it is designated as a specific health use food (Tokuho). Natural green tea contains four types of catechins (EC, EGC, ECG, EGCG), but commercially available tea also contains a significant amount of heat-isomerized catechins (C, GC, CG, GCG) produced during the heating sterilization process. This document presents a case study of analyzing commercially available green tea using LC/MS/MS to separate and identify eight types of catechins, including heat-isomerized forms.

[Analysis Case] LC/MS/MS Analysis of Vitamin Supplements

Simultaneous analysis of five water-soluble vitamins (B1, B2, B6, B12, and niacin).

Water-soluble vitamins can be divided into about 10 types based on their functions in the body. For example, vitamin B1 consists of multiple components (thiamine, hydroxymethylthiazole, and its derivatives) that have the same function, and the total amount of these components determines the content. In this case, a multivitamin supplement was measured using LC/MS/MS, and qualitative analysis was conducted for each component of five types of water-soluble vitamins. By performing simultaneous analysis, it is possible to efficiently confirm the presence or absence of the target components. Analysis of other water-soluble vitamins is also possible, so please feel free to inquire.

Analysis Case: Analysis of Ginsenoside

It is possible to conduct simultaneous analysis of 26 types of ginseng saponins using LC/MS/MS.

Ginsenoside is a saponin unique to Korean ginseng. It has a structure where sugars are bound to a basic skeleton of sapogenin, and approximately 40 related compounds have been discovered to date. They are mainly classified into diol types, which have central nervous system inhibitory effects, and triol types, which have central nervous system excitatory effects, and it is said that the balance between these is important. This document introduces a case of simultaneous analysis of 26 types of ginsenosides contained in Korean ginseng using LC/MS/MS. Measurement method: LC/MS Product field: Food Analysis purpose: Composition evaluation and identification For more details, please download the materials or contact us.

Technical Report: Gas Analysis - GC, GC/MS Analysis

A case study of qualitative and quantitative analysis of volatile organic compounds and inorganic gases using GC and GC/MS.

Some volatile organic compounds and inorganic gases contain substances that can adversely affect the environment and human health. These substances, which are gaseous at room temperature and pressure, are typically analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively using GC or GC/MS. This document presents an example of measurement methods for methane, the main component of natural gas, carbon monoxide generated from automobile exhaust and incomplete combustion, and nitrous oxide, a substance that depletes the ozone layer. [Contents] ■ Methane ■ Carbon monoxide ■ Nitrous oxide *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
